Freelance Fashion Stylist | Dear Velvet Editorial Shoot

Freelance Fashion Stylist | Dear Velvet Editorial Shoot

As a freelance fashion stylist, I love to travel for work. I had the luck of flying to the Philippines to style an editorial for Dear Velvet blog. My concept was to use only scarves as outfits. As DV said “One scarf really can do it all. Every travel article I’ve ever read advises taking a scarf to wear as a bandana, blanket, hankie and so on: it’s a camping staple. Packing just one thing seems like a revolutionary idea. Truly, just one scarf can double for almost every item in your wardrobe.”

A classic silk scarf is an investment piece in your wardrobe, that never goes out of style. Wearing a silk scarf with your outfit is a genius way to add instant, effortless chic to any look. But as with many accessories, it’s all in the styling.

Think saris and sarongs, bandanas and bralettes; experiment with twisting and make yourself a halter. Sleeveless or side layered, this is an easy way to dip into the bare shoulder trend. Headscarves, skirts and even bikinis are all there for a little artful tucking and tying. With Summer imminent and the endless hunt for holiday clothes occupying too much of our leisure browsing.

I had a great time working with Dear Velvet team as a freelance fashion stylist and hope to collaborate with him in the future. Here you can take a look on the editoral: https://dearvelvet.com/category/style/page/3/

Makeup Artist in Los Angeles | Birdies Bridal Campaign

Makeup Artist in Los Angeles | Birdies Bridal Campaign

As a makeup artist in Los Angeles, my previous blog article talked about camera-ready hair and makeup tricks and tips which I use on fashion films, still photo shoots, commercials, as well as TV & Web content. Recently, I worked on the Birdies Bridal collection photo and video shoot with the Tiger House Films production team. I used this same technique on 3 models for beauty makeup looks. For this commercial production, I was inspired by the 2019 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s hair and makeup creations.

In my last blog article I detailed foundation, concealer and the use of translucent powder, next I would like to talk about eyebrows. Eyebrows add structure to the eye. Fill the brow in a natural way, the eyebrow should have dimension and not look too sharp or too opaque for everyday wear. A fuller eyebrow also makes your face look younger and fresher, but be careful not to overdo it.

Next up, eyeshadow. Using three colors, a natural, a darker shade, and a highlighter will make your eyes appear brighter and larger in pictures. For the Birdies Bridal photo and video campaign my main color was pink. I started with a classic defining shape. Neutral shadow over the lid will even things out, darker shadow in the crease will make your eyes pop, and highlighter at the inner corner and on the brow bone will brighten up the darker areas of the eye. Your bone structure is the guide. If your eyelid is smoother without a strong crease, blend the deeper shade on the outer corner of the eye for nice dimension. For the best application, use a fluffy brush.

Los Angeles Makeup Artist | Lifestyle shoot in DTLA

Los Angeles Makeup Artist | Lifestyle shoot in DTLA

Being a Los Angeles makeup artist I would like to share with you a couple of tricks and basic fixes which will help to deal with shiny or uneven skin tone, tired eyes, and unpronounced features in general. In real life, there’s nothing targeting and bouncing light off of your face, washing out your features. The human eye sees differently than the lens of a camera, which is why you look very different in the mirror versus in a picture.

Let’s start with the basics:

Mattifying, full-coverage base makeup will help your skin to look soft and even, plus it will combat shininess. Using a makeup brush will help to blend the product into a natural-looking finish.

Next up – Foundation: With a foundation brush, blend foundation evenly all over clean, moisturized skin.

Don’t forget the concealer: Apply your foundation first and then conceal the problem areas that still stand out. Use a minimal amount of concealer and blend well.

Last but not least – Translucent Powder: Lightly sweep powder over the center of the forehead, the center of the nose, and chin. Apply it as a final step, so you can tell where you need it, it will remove shine. A glow-y complexion looks great in person, but on camera, it can reflect like an oil slick. The trick is to leave the dewiness on your cheeks, but keep the middle of your face matte.

Check out my next blog articles for other on camera makeup tricks like creating natural eyebrows, eyeshadow,  eyelashes, lipstick and applying bronzer, blush, and highlighter for contouring.

Los Angeles Personal Stylist | Menswear Business Casual Look

Los Angeles Personal Stylist | Menswear Business Casual Look

As a Los Angeles personal stylist, I love to work with individuals who has the eye for luxury and trendy clothes. I styled Ashok, a Shanghai based fashion model during our collaboration. His style is sophisticated and modern, I just had to coordinate his wardrobe looks during our photo shoot.

By definition, menswear business casual look is a style that’s not quite as formal as traditional office wear, but nevertheless still created to render a professional or business-like impression. Naturally, that leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Not helping is the inclusion of the word “casual”, which historically imparts visions of men in Hawaiian t-shirts, shorts and sandals. To that we would say: just go ahead and try wearing truly casual wardrobe to the office on a regular workday and see how far it gets you. In other words, business casual is still far more “business” than it is “casual”, and that’s absolutely a good thing.

As a Los Angeles personal stylist I styled Ashok in 3 different looks. The first one was a formal modern man’s suit , the second was a street style and the third look a full on jeans outfit. Personal stylists help clients achieve their desired looks by aiding them in the selection of personal style items, such as clothes, shoes and accessories. Sometimes these services extend even further than clothing selection; personal stylists can also work with home decoration or advising hair and makeup looks.

I had a great time working with Ashok as a Los Angeles personal stylist and hope to collaborate with him in the future.

TV Commercial wardrobe stylist | Global Leadership Network Brand Anthem Video

TV Commercial wardrobe stylist | Global Leadership Network Brand Anthem Video

As a TV Commercial wardrobe stylist I often travel for work. During this project, I collaborated with Global Leadership Network, OX Creates and Justin Bell Productions. This spot for the Global Leadership Network, was shot over 1 day in Santa Clarita, California with a stellar Justin Bell Productions commercial production team.

For this shoot, alongside my duties as a TV Commercial wardrobe stylist, I was also in charge of the production design, as well as the set design. Since each of the characters in this brand video are from different parts of the world, I needed to ensure the set and costume designs for each character were appropriately placed in order to represent their stories in the best way possible.

Global Leadership Network is a community who is committed to learning from each other and using our influence to accomplish God’s purposes on earth. Since GLN founding in 1992, they’ve held a deep-seated belief that the Church is God’s plan to redeem and restore our world. GLN initial focus on sharing ministry innovations with pioneering church leaders has evolved, and now they exclusively focus on leadership development. Today, GLN exist not just to serve church leaders, but Christians in all sectors of society to impact the world.

I had a great time working with Global Leadership Network, OX Creates and Justin Bell Productions as a Los Angeles wardrobe stylist and hope to create a lasting business relationship with them for the future.

Tiger House Films was approached by Zelda Andreoli of Brand Consulting Agency Zelda Zelda to work with Golab Agency and creative director Ced stefan pakusevskij of FullScream to be the on the ground production company for the new Napapijri SS19 Fashion Commercial stills and video campaign.

The new campaign for Napapijri produced by Tiger House Films fashion commercial production company in Los Angeles entitled “Future-Positive”, is the new Spring/Summer 2019 campaign by Napapijri. The Italian, Milan based brand has an inclusive approach in this campaign, expressed through the casting of globally diverse and emotionally expressive models.
