As a Beverly Hills makeup artist, I collaborated with KAPLAN MD, a Paraben and Cruelty-Free, Luxury Skincare brand made in California by Beverly Hills Dermatologist, Stuart Kaplan, M.D.

Dr. Kaplan believes that true luxury is taking the best solution, and making it simple. It is this philosophy that guides the meticulous creation of every KAPLAN MD product and ensures that each product delivers multiple patented ingredients effortlessly.

Working as a Los Angeles makeup artist, my clientele includes mostly celebrity makeup, advertising, commercial and fashion projects. As well as, red carpet events, editorial and beauty photoshoots.

In order to become a makeup artist in Los Angeles, I needed to perfect my skills and put myself out there. Working in L.A. gave me the right experience to travel anywhere in the world.

Working in Hollywood as a makeup artist is exciting. Refining your skills and showing off your unique talent, you can impress the right person and launch your career. Los Angeles Makeup Artist | Antonym Cosmetics Partnership

As a Los Angeles makeup artist, I collaborated with Antonym Cosmetics, an organic makeup range that is made with certified natural and organic ingredients. The brand range is free of chemicals such as parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, and phthalates.

Antonym Cosmetics was founded by Miami makeup artist Valerie Giraud who sought to create the best organic makeup and makeup brushes that were cruelty-free and gentle on the skin. According to Val, natural makeup doesn’t have to mean a natural look. This is why Antonym Cosmetics is certified natural and organic and highly pigmented.

Natural or “clean” beauty has blown up in recent years. As a Los Angeles beauty makeup artist, I care more about non-toxic ingredients and I’m making a conscious effort to pay close attention to harmful chemicals commonly found in makeup products, like parabens. When I choose the right foundation, blush, lip color of my models, actors, and clients I make sure to look for the most natural-looking match.

The cruelty-free organic Antonym Cosmetics’ coverage is sheer but build-able up to medium, and the velvet matte finish is one of the best skin-like finishes I’ve ever seen.

On set it is very important to me to use the highest quality products on my clients because wearing makeup every day can dry out your skin quickly if you are not moisturizing / taking care of your skin properly.

Key Make-Up Artist in Los Angeles | ANTARCTICA Short Film

As a key make-up artist in Los Angeles, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Xi He, director of his Antarctica short film. I was the lead makeup artist and hair stylist on this project. We were shooting for 5 days in Los Angeles.

Our cinematographer was Laura Jansen. Laura was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in a small suburban town 25 miles south of the city. Much of her free time as an only-child was spent either in front of a television screen or in a movie theater. It was there that she fell in love with film’s ability to completely immerse her in the narrative and take her to a different place entirely.

I love my job as a makeup artist and I love working with a wide range of different looks and styles that my clients request. I get excited about working with directors such as Xi He and cinematographer Laura Jansen. I am always curious as to what I can contribute to these projects. Most of all, I delight in seeing my work used by clients in their social media posts, films, campaigns, and websites. In this short film for our actors, I created natural and camera-ready hair/makeup looks.

I had a great time collaborating with Xi He and his team as a key make-up artist in Los Angeles, I hope to create a long-lasting relationship with him for the future.

As a Los Angeles hair/makeup combo The Walt Disney Company hired me for their Maleficient mistress of evil pumpkin craving promo video. I had 1 male artist to do camera-ready hair and makeup for.

I love my job as a hairstylist and makeup artist and I enjoy working with a wide range of different looks and styles that my clients request. As a hair/makeup combo and men’s groomer, I mostly work on beauty, fashion, commercials, television, film, and movies.

Working as a hair/makeup combo allows me the freedom of creating a full look for the models and actors. Creativity is an ability to see beyond ordinary, it is to use the mind and the imagination to create alternatives, possibilities, new and original ideas. Onset in Los Angeles, we always run into unexpected situations so on a shoot is very important to be on top of your task.

As a Los Angeles freelance makeup artist, I collaborated with WikiHow’s team. They were looking for a notable expert to add to their Makeup articles by answering reader questions, giving advice, and telling personal stories.

Reading people’s advice has always helped me to learn so I like to share the tricks and tips that I’ve learned over the years. By teaching, you can customize your learning environment also – with online learning, whether you’re at home, on the road or at a friend’s house, you can create your own perfect space to look up the answer to your questions.

Online learning offers better opportunities to concentrate. – you can choose any place that helps you learn the material to gain a greater understanding of the overall body of knowledge you need. Thanks to WikiHow I learned so much from their articles and I can look up my answers anywhere/anytime.

Los Angeles Makeup Artist | The Walt Disney Branded Video

As a Los Angeles makeup artist, The Walt Disney Company hired me for their Disney Art 4 Ways: Maleficent branded video shoot in their studio. We shot this branded video for 2 days.

I was hired to do camera-ready makeup for 4 people. Camera-ready makeup isn’t about heavy coverage or overly bright colors. It’s about understanding how and what the camera is going to see.

Things you must need to create a camera-ready makeup and as a Los Angeles makeup artist I use all the time:

Contour: When taking a photo/video the camera makes you look flat with no dimension, so contour your face to create shadows, making you three-dimensial to the camera
Avoid Shimmer: A little shimmery highlight on the cheekbone is OK, but try and avoid shimmery eyeshadows as flash photography reflects light back, causing the skin to look washed out. Matte colors work perfectly if you are going to be in front of the camera.
Pack on the Translucent Powder: Before adding blush or bronzer, pack on the translucent powder and use shine-free foundation. For the same reason you want to avoid shimmery eyeshadows, you want to use translucent powder to tone down the natural shine of your skin. Toning down the shine is why celebrities are constantly being touched up when on camera.
Use Primer: Prime you face and eyes before applying makeup
Apply Mascara: Mascara will really make your eyes stand out, and your overall look will be perfection.

TV Commercial Makeup Artist | AliveCor Commercial

As a TV Commercial makeup artist, I was hired by Williamson Adams, a San Francisco based production company to work on an AliveCor TV commercial video + photo campaign. We worked on this shoot over 2 days around Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, CA. Our celebrity talent was Mark Spitz. Mark is an American former competitive swimmer and nine-time Olympic champion. He won seven gold medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, all in world record time.

On the first day of this shoot we captured campaign images and on the second day we focused on the video aspect of the commercial shoot. Our team was small yet very professional. I bought many wardrobe choices for Mark so we would have multiple options to choose from on the shoot day. As we got ready with the wardrobe I simultaneously worked on his hair & makeup. It was great working with Mark, he is very used to branded shoots due to his endorsements of many athletic brands, past and present.

AliveCor is a medical device and artificial intelligence company that sells ECG hardware and software for consumer mobile devices. The company is the first to receive FDA-clearance for a medical-device accessory to the Apple Watch.

About the agency Williamson Adams: They build brands from the ground up. They refresh those that have gone stale. They dream up marketing and ad campaigns. They handle digital projects of nearly all type. They create content in the form of writing, film, animation, photography, or just about anything they can take a crack at.
