TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist | New York Life Insurance

TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist I New York Life Insurance

As a TV commercial wardrobe stylist in California, I had the opportunity of working with Tiger House Films commercial production company’s team on New York Life Insurance videos multiple times during this year.

Our theme for this commercial video production was “Celebrating Milestones: Diwali”
Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights, held in the period October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India. In total we had approximately 15 cast members for these 3 videos for the same Diwali theme. All of our cast members were bringing multiple wardrobe choices and I prepared outfit options as well matching to New York Life Insurance previous advertisements.

A TV commercial wardrobe stylist is one of the most trending businesses within the fashion and commercial world internationally. What a wardrobe stylist does is pick the clothing and accessories for TV commercials, editorials, print or advertising campaigns and music videos produced by advertising agencies and production companies. This profession is really an essential element in the process of creating advertising campaigns and commercials.

As a TV commercial wardrobe stylist based in Los Angeles, I mostly work on TV commercials, branded videos, and campaigns. I really enjoyed collaborating with the creative team on this New York Life Insurance web commercial.

TV Advertising Wardrobe Stylist | Kevin De Leon Campaign

TV Advertising Wardrobe Stylist | Kevin De Leon Campaign

I collaborated with WIN ad agency as a TV advertising wardrobe stylist on their Kevin De Leon Campaign. WIN is a media agency that creates strategic campaigns for engaging audiences, driving action and creating change.

I had two actors to style on this TV advertising project. I would like to explain my process as part of making this campaign:

I got call from WIN’s ad agency producer who had my contact through a recommendation. He was asking my availability as a TV advertising wardrobe stylist and makeup artist for this project, which was a political campaign spot for Kevin De Leon. After that he sent me a short brief by email and explained the plan for the shoot. Luckily, I was free on those days and had time to start immediately.

I began working on the pre-production by communicating the specific style the director was going for, which included showcasing a lower-middle class family. I received talent measurements prior to starting the production wardrobe shopping and began my rounds to find just the right color scheme and overall fit for the talent. We didn’t have time for a fitting because our schedule was very tight but I was bringing wardrobe options so we could confirm talent outfits with the director on the day of the shoot.

After the shoot with WIN as a TV advertising wardrobe stylist, I had to do returns and wrap out the project. I had to take care of the accounting as well and report how much I spent from the wardrobe budget in total, to the production team.

You can find the final video and the article on Adweek : https://www.adweek.com/creativity/poignant-campaign-ad-tells-the-story-of-a-candidate-whose-family-could-have-been-separated-by-ice/

In conclusion I loved working with WIN advertising agency and hope we can continue collaborating on upcoming campaigns in the near future.

Print Advertising Wardrobe Stylist | CONVERSE China

Print Advertising Wardrobe Stylist | CONVERSE China

I worked with Converse China as a print advertising wardrobe stylist on their campaign. I worked closely with the creative director of the company to come up with the wardrobe styling ideas for this particular advertising.

David Jumpa fashion/editorial/commercial photographer shot this campaign. David was going for lifestyle looks and kept the models in action during the whole shoot. He directed them to play with their clothing. I had 4 models to style from ESEE Model Management.  Converse has a sporty, comfy style which I mix-matched with trendy pieces from their collection. I used skirts, graphic tees and hats to make their collection stand out. We played with the female model’s makeup as well and added strong lips.

My Responsibilities as a print advertising wardrobe stylist were on this Converse shoot:

  • Direct and coordinate all styling and outfitting as needed for editorial and e-commerce
  • Work with and coordinate all aspects of this advertising campaign, to include outfitting, hair and make-up and accessorizing.

Commercial Wardrobe Stylist | The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Print Campaign

Commercial Wardrobe Stylist | The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Print Campaign

I worked with Christian Mushenko photographer and director as a commercial wardrobe stylist for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel during a print campaign in Shanghai, China. We were shooting during one afternoon/evening at The Ritz-Carlton’s top floor. I had 2 models to style from ESEE Model Management.

It was a great opportunity to collaborate with Christian because he just flew in from Sydney, Australia for a business meeting. Our project theme was introducing a young Asian couple’s lifestyle who is on a trip discovering Shanghai. As a commercial wardrobe stylist I changed the models wardrobe multiple times through the day to match their clothing to our story.

A commercial wardrobe stylist is a multi-functional role within the production team. Dressing the models in accordance with the photographer direction and effectively managing their day to ensure that shoot targets are achieved. A passion for current culture, trends, and brands is critical to the success of the role. The Ritz-Carlton is a business oriented hotel so we wanted to keep our models styling matching to the brand’s identity.

About The Ritz-Carlton: 100 years of history. Countless rewards. With an unshakeable credo and corporate philosophy of unwavering commitment to service, both in our hotels and in our communities, The Ritz-Carlton has been recognized with numerous awards for being the gold standard of hospitality. The Ritz-Carlton inspires life’s most meaningful journeys.

I was privileged to work on this commercial advertising campaign with Christian Mushenko photographer and The Ritz-Carlton. The final pictures are used internally in the company.

Production Coordinator based in Los Angeles | Mani Jassal SS18 Fashion Video

Production Coordinator based in Los Angeles Mani Jassal SS18 Fashion Video

I was hired by Tiger House Films as a production coordinator based in Los Angeles to create Mani Jassal SS18 fashion video. Tiger House Films Los Angeles video production company teamed up with Toronto based Indian fashion designer Mani Jassal to create a fashion video production for her SS18 collection of traditional Indian designs with a modern edge.

The fashion collection was inspired by a story of an inner journey from a chaotic self-image to inner peace in the garden of desire. Our model Vita Mallela flew in from New York to showcase Mani Jassal’s designs at an Italian villa in the Hollywood Hills.

This was Tiger House Films Los Angeles video production company’s debut collection with Mani Jassal. Her large social media following and rapid growth globally proves the ever increasing demand for a brand like hers. Her aesthetic is widely recognized all across the world with her pieces being worn by celebrities and influencers like Ashanti, Nazanin Mandi, Madison Beer, Bebe Rexha, Sonam Bajwa, Gigi Gorgeous. Her clothing has also been published in international and national magazines like Vanity Fair, Vice Magazine, Playboy, Marie Claire and Stardust.

Tiger House Films Los Angeles fashion video production team was able to capture multiple looks during our one day shoot in Hollywood. My job as a production coordinator based in Los Angeles was keeping us on schedule and making sure we shot all the Mani Jassal SS18 styles we planned capturing. Staying lightweight and mobile along with a strict shooting schedule allowed us to move around the multi level location quickly and efficiently to give Mani the maximum production value for her collection’s photos and fashion video.

Los Angeles Production Coordinator | IKARIA Resort Wear SS18

Los Angeles Production Coordinator | IKARIA Resort Wear SS18

I was involved in the project as a Los Angeles production coordinator. Tiger House Films has produced a behind the scenes brand video production for our Ikaria fashion commercial / high fashion photo shoot. The project is behind the scenes for the debut of their SS18 ready to wear collection in a gorgeous private home location in Palm Springs. Ikaria’s luxurious coverups are inspired by the jet-setting lifestyle and exotic travel destinations.

This behind the scenes brand video production captures a rare glimpse into the process of shooting our fashion video / high fashion still photo shoot productions. The technical process of the creation of these campaigns is seldom captured due to the fact that our Los Angeles production company only shows the final released and finished products for brands and agencies.

Our supermodel talent for this brand video production was Victoria’s Secret supermodel Barbara Fialho who is originally from Brazil. Our beautiful talent has incredible charisma and her experience over 15 years in the industry shined on camera . Her background as a ballerina gives her the ability be aware of her movements and balance for camera.

Tiger House Films video production team worked seamlessly with photographers Melis+Dainon to create a combination photo & video campaign for Ikaria. This is the second collaboration with Melis+Dainon and they are featured in the behind the scenes production as well.

Palm Springs is the perfect location for a high fashion video and photo production. The dramatic desert mountains provide a beautiful backdrop where nature and bright sunshine are all a part of the incredible aesthetic.

Los Angeles Creative Coordinator | Royal Enfield Interceptor Commercial

Los Angeles Creative Coordinator | Royal Enfield Interceptor Commercial

I have many different responsibilities as a Los Angeles creative coordinator such as coordinating the wardrobe, the looks for hair and makeup, and the styling in regards to the client’s requests.

I’ve recently lent my services as a Los Angeles creative coordinator and wardrobe stylist in two commercials for Royal Enfield and Tiger House Films led a company called Storyteller.in based in Mumbai, India. Storytellers.in was founded in 2015 under the direction of Arun Gopalan. Over the last three and half years, the company has worked on many different campaigns that have earned them some notoriety in the industry.

Tiger House Films is an award-winning commercial production located in Los Angeles founded by Jason Kent Carpenter, who also works as a freelance producer and director. The Enfield Cycle Company makes motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers, and stationary engines under the name Royal Enfield.

I worked on the Storytellers’ first American shoot as their Creative Coordinator on a commercial shoot in Los Angeles. We shot for five days in various locations including Downtown LA, Malibu, and Pismo Beach.

My main duties on this shoot included:

  • Contributing to the creation of creative materials
  • Handling day-to-day project tracking and management with internal cross-functional teams and agency partners.
  • Assisting in creating and developing briefings
  • Becoming familiar with details of the campaigns in order to keep the team on track
  • Asset management (workflow / timelines), transferring between internal and external departments, and ensuring timely delivery.

Since 2012, I’ve worked with many different clients from all around the world. When I had started my journey in Shanghai, I never could have imagined the immense amount of experience in fashions films, commercials, web and TV contents, and photo shoots that I’ve obtained in the last six years. Working as a Los Angeles creative coordinator may not be an easy task, but it’s a fun one nonetheless.

Mobile Fashion Stylist | Midol online commercial

Mobile Fashion Stylist | Midol online commercial

As a Mobile fashion stylist, my work includes lots of traveling, but mostly consists of working in the greater Los Angeles area. I’ve worked as a fashion stylist on many different short film and commercial shoots.

One of my recent gigs involved working with director, Sonia Meg on a commercial for Midol. Midol is a website sponsored by Bayer U.S and offers medical services in women’s health. Bayer’s website includes a variety of their content such as their software, graphic and fashion designs, photo shoots, artwork, artistic work, videos, music, sound, brands, and services.

Sonia Meg is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She’s worked on many different types of projects such as documentaries, short films, music videos, etc. We worked together for two days on an advertisement photo shoot. Midol’s gave Sonia and I the creative freedom we needed to make for a great experience.

Some of my duties on the Midol online TV commercial as a Mobile fashion stylist included:

  • Keeping up to date with current and changing trends in fashion and design according to the brand guidelines
  • Advising the client on fashion styling for visuals.
  • Selecting the most appropriate pieces from collections and ranges for the shoot.
  • Supervising the commercial shoot

Fashion stylists work for individuals, fashion houses, and clothing brands, and will sometimes require traveling to different parts of the world. Some of the main responsibilities include providing fashion advice, choosing and coordinating outfits for models in photo shoots or actors in television and film; and choosing props and accessories and preparing them for shoots. Working as a freelance Mobile fashion stylist in Los Angeles has given me the opportunity to be more creative with styling, choosing which style is better for each shoot, what works and what doesn’t, and learning something new everyday.

Los Angeles Production Designer | Awana TV commercial

Los Angeles Production Designer | Awana TV commercial

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of working as a Los Angeles production designer and wardrobe stylist with OX Creates and Justin Bell Productions on a commercial shoot for our client, Awana, an international Christian nonprofit organization that focuses on educating children of all ages in biblical studies, and gives them the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, regardless of their background. Their mission is to help “reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world for God”.

The commercial depicts the stories of three characters, Chloe, Jay, and Brent. Each of them have their own backstory and from different parts of the world. Throughout the course of the commercial, we see each of them go through their own set of trials and tribulations and how they’re able to find God in the process.

For this shoot, alongside my duties as a Los Angeles production designer, I was also in charge of the fashion/wardrobe styling and design of the costumes, as well as the set direction. Since each of the characters are from different parts of the world, I needed to ensure the set and costume designs for each character were appropriately placed in order to represent their stories in the best way possible. My experience in each of these departments, along with my ability to effectively multi-task, served as a key component to communicating with the clients and producers in the best way possible. For example, we transformed an empty office space into a child’s bedroom. This was no easy task, but we managed to pull it off in a short amount of time.

Despite the hefty load of responsibilities, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ox Creates and Justin Bell Productions. They gave me the opportunity to channel my skills, ideas, and creativity in order to help bring Awana’s vision to life. OX Creative is a visual content and brand strategy firm that uses their platform to connect up-and-coming talent to global brands that focus on making the world a better place.

Since moving out to Los Angeles in 2017, I have continued displaying my work in commercials and advertisements. I’ve worked alongside many different brands, companies, and organizations such as The Scotch porter, Mattel, Mtailor, North Face, among many others. Now, I can happily add Ox Creates and Justin Bell Productions to the list. I’m very proud of the hard work and dedication that was put into this shoot. If you’re interested, I highly recommend you check out the commercial, which was recently uploaded on YouTube. Go check it out: https://lucabuzas.com/portfolio/awana/

TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist | Royal Enfield Commercial

TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist | Royal Enfield Commercial

A few months ago, Tiger House Films hired me as a TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist. We worked on two TV commercials for Royal Enfield’s brand new motorcycles. These commercials are created in conjunction with storytellers located in Mumbai, India.

Working as a TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist is one of the most emerging jobs in the global world of styling. This job engages someone who selects all clothing and accessories for the publishing, TV and advertisements companies, and music, in the creation of videos, performances and public advents made by celebrities. Even these celebrities sometimes hire their wardrobe stylist for TV commercials. Working as a wardrobe stylist is not the job of an individual, but it required the efforts of all the team. A good TV commercial and the wardrobe styles use in it are the result of effective teamwork.

As a TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist, you have to use different styles and work with your clients in order to design the costume that best fits for each character. Being able to come up with a variety of ideas that attract viewers is also very important. The main goal for wardrobe stylists in advertisements is to appeal to the client’s target demographic, which in this case, consists of young, easy-going people in the Indian market.

As a TV Commercial Wardrobe Stylist, I graft with the larger creative team hired by the clients. As a wardrobe stylist, I have to collaborate with different fashion designers, photographers, and hair and makeup artists. Working on commercials is also a great way to build up your portfolio and help attract new clients.
